Dr.-Ing. Matthias Keller

Senior Research Associate

Curriculum Vitae

Matthias Keller was born 1976 in Saarlouis, Saarland, Germany. He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Saarland, Saarbruecken, Germany, in 2003 and the Dr.-Ing. degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany, in 2010.

From 2003 to 2009, he was a research assistant at the Fritz Huettinger Chair of Microelectronics, University of Freiburg, Germany, in the field of time-continuous Delta-Sigma analog-to-digital converters. The title of his dissertation was Systematic Approach to the Synthesis of Continuous-Time Multi-Stage Noise-Shaping Delta-Sigma Modulators.

In 2009, Dr. Keller was appointed the tenured position of research associate and in 2015, he became senior research associate at the Fritz Huettinger Chair of Microelectronics, University of Freiburg Germany. He was the first of the non-professorial teaching staff to receive the teaching award of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg in 2014. He serves as member of the faculty council since 2014, the studies committee since 2014, the examination board since 2018 and the Senate of the university since 2023 upon his elections as representative of the academic mid-level faculty.

His research interests are CMOS based analog / mixed-signal circuits, in particular A/D converters. He authored and co-authored more than 30 international publications, i.e., conference and journal papers as well as book chapters, and received the IEEE MWSCAS’07 best paper award for his paper Systematic Approach to the Synthesis of Continuous-Time Cascaded Sigma-Delta Modulators.

Dr. Keller is a member of IEEE (Student Member’04, M’10, SM’17) and VDE.
