Elisabeth Otte worked in the fields of neural probes, wafer-level micromachining and micro-scale assembly before joining the BEMT group in 2020. Her research is currently focused on the development of customized electrode arrays for electrophysiological recordings in brain slices.

Ahmed Saeed joined the BEMT team in June 2021, and is developing next generation of flexible bioelectronics for visual resoration. By patterned stimulation in the visual cortex there is  a possibility to generate artifical vision. In the context of the EU funded project NeuraviPeR Ahmed develops polyimide-based multi-layer implantable probes with 3D electrode materials and a smart chip-based interface.

Alumni

Nicole Jedrusik is working as a cell biologist in the field of functional skin tissue engeneering. Working many years at the University Hospital of Freiburg in the Department of Oral Biotechnology, she gains experience in wound healing research and the biomechanical influence of biomaterials for the fabrication of optimized 3D in vitro skin models.

Carolin Kleber successfully defended her doctoral thesis with the title "Development and Characterization of a Conducting Polymer Hydrogel for Biomedical Applications", Jan 2020. She joined the EAC group 2014, funded by the BrainLinks-BrainTools Center of Excellence.
