Robert Tannhaeuser received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences, Germany in 2009 and the Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kassel, Germany in 2011.

From 2001 to 2004 he did an apprenticeship as microtechnologist in microsystem technologies at the HSG-IMIT, Germany.

From 2007 to 2008 he was guest researcher at the Berkeley Sensor and ActuatorCenter (BSAC) at the University of California, Berkeley, USA.

Since December 2011 he has been a Ph.D student at the Laboratory of Electrical Instrumentation at the University of Freiburg, Germany as well as project leader of the project “autonomous risk and information system for the structural analysis and monitoring of security-relevant buildings” – AURIS.

His major research interest include ultra-low power system modeling, hardware design and implementation of energy efficient signal processing algorithm on FPGA and microcontroller for ultra-low power wireless sensor networks.
